Welcome to my blog. Here you will find whatever is bringing me joy right now. Please join me in this spiritual agreement, from my mentor and friend, Jana Massey: "Together we agree that everything that we think, that we say and that we do at this time will be of the highest good. And together we ask for truth, the understanding of that truth and the wisdom to use it in our lives." Thank you.

Hot and Cold Water Therapy
© Josephine Laing 2016
As a Clairvoyant Healer, Spiritual Counselor and Intuition Instructor, I share many tips for leading a healthy and fulfilling life. Please be advised that I am not a doctor. Nor am I licensed in any healing modality. However, I have had years of experience in alternative and complementary health and healing. All healing programs, including standard western medical protocols in addition to natural therapies, can cause harm rather than the benefit that you may be searching for. After all some people can have a strong reaction to something as seemingly innocent as peanuts or strawberries. Therefore, anything that I may recommend in these blogs and videos could be dangerous for you to try. So, it is important that you Ask Your Doctor First before trying any natural healing protocol. However, most medical doctors have little experience regarding natural healing programs and herbal medicine. So please understand if your doctor is unfamiliar with these ideas.

Organic Food

Whether we are trying to heal or just seeking a better experience in life, it is good to go organic with our food. Why? Nutrition. I feel that this is number one. Second, it's a good idea for us humans to stop poisoning our air, our water, our soil, our selves, the animals, the plants, and the world. Third, our nervous systems are tough, but they are also very sensitive. Pesticides are neurotoxins. Neurotoxins damage or kill nervous systems. That is what they are designed to do. And we don't want that in our own bodies or in our planet's body either.
People will say, "But it's too expensive." However, the big expense here lies in the unseen cost of non-organic foods. Those foods with their heavy use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers are polluting our earth, our bodies and our minds. Their prices do not include the clean up cost for this pollution. One day that bill will come due. Until then our health will suffer and just like with the "Superfunds" which are spent cleaning up industrial accidents, we tax payers will pay. I'd rather respect the garden by preventing the toxic spill in the first place and pay the farmer a living wage for protecting me, her family and the meadow lark too.
It is true that organic produce costs more, but there are reasons for the higher price. Organic produce has to meet higher quality standards and tougher regulations than conventionally grown produce. This requires extra labor and that is what raises the price. Also, our government has programs that subsidize the production of food. But organic foods are not included in these subsidies, only non-organic food stuffs are subsidized and these are largely the ones used in the junk food industries, like corn and soy.
Some people say that organically grown does not mean organically shipped. They assert that toxins and fumigants are used on the food in shipping. But this is simply not true. Mexico, the EU, Canada and the United States all accept each others governmental organic food certifications and standards. All of those standards are very strict. The value of the U.S. organic market is too great for any organic importers to risk sloppy practices. If an international shipment is forced to be fumigated, it can no longer be sold as organic. If shipments are even held at the border for testing of suspected pests, this delay can cause great damage to the produce and it may become unsalable. So growers go to extreme lengths to ship high quality and extremely clean organic produce.
When foods are grown organically, the plants bodies take up the broad spectrum of natural nutrition from the soil. This is like a rainbow in it's complexity and gradation of colors and it is very different from non-organically grown food. Non-organic foods are grown in nutritionally depleted soils which are compensated for with commercial fertilizers. These fertilizers are typically made from industrial waste products. This is likely why organic foods are richer in naturally occurring organic acids and in polyphenolic compounds. These acids and compounds are antioxidants which lend great benefit to human health. As well organic foods have significant flavor differences. When a nectarine tastes like amazing piece of adult candy instead of a raw and mealy potato, it is much more likely to be included in our diet.
Some years back I heard a statistic on how we in the modern west pay a smaller percentage of our income on food costs than any other group of people in recorded history. Even still, sometimes our budgets are so tight that we feel we just truly can not afford the higher price for organic food in the grocery store. In this situation, fortunately, we still have a wonderfully viable option, our local farmer's market.
Not all farmers grow organically, many of them do not. However, many who do grow organically can not afford to pay the price of organic certification, yet they choose to hold firmly to organic standards none the less. So here is another avenue, allowing us to stand behind organic principles, by simply getting to know our local growers. After they get to know you, most farmers are happy to have you come out to see their farms.
Most small family farmers have no more interest in poisoning themselves and their children with toxic pesticides and fertilizers than they do in poisoning their land or you. Organic farming practices have been with us for millennia. While non-organic practices, have been with us for only a handful of decades. So go to the farmers market, meet the growers. Find the ones who never do any spraying or commercial fertilizing. There are some real green thumbs out there who grow great non-certified, yet organic food, full of nutrition, very inexpensively. It couldn't be fresher and it will fuel you on your way with powerful nutrition.
So do yourself a favor. Feed yourself well and tend to the garden at the same time. Eliminate the poisons from your body and from our world by supporting what supports you and all of the rest of life. We hold the key right inside our pocket books. It's a small change there, but a massive change in our own health and in the well being of our entire world.

Laughter Nourishes and Heals Us
Laughter feels so good! It releases. It relaxes. It makes us feel whole. So, why on earth do we all spend so much time being so serious? You'd think we were suffering giant afflictions most of the time. When really, the only thing we are suffering from is a lack of the habits of happiness and joy.
Children laugh hundreds of times a day. Adults only a few dozen, if we are lucky. Some of us hardly laugh at all. It is as if we think we will go farther or do better if we are serious most of the time. And yet, the opposite is true. When we laugh, we loosen up. Inspirations flow while fresh and fun perspectives flood on in. Laughter frees our breath and stimulates our immune systems. It heals our bodies and our minds.
I think that when we are laughing we are sharing our souls. Laughter opens our hearts and brings us into the present. It's like we are serving the finest desert to the Universe. It occurred to me one day, years ago, that The Universe Feeds On Our Joy. And it is our job to provide that kind of nourishment to not only the world around us, but to the heavens above as well. And when we laugh out loud, we are handing out the sweetness and cream of our day.
So, let yourself laugh. Remember to play. Let it become a part of your day. Frank and I literally chase each other around the house. We play, 'Catch Me If You Can.' We run and cut around the corners. We hop up on and over the bed. We grab and tickle each other and then fall gasping and laughing in each others arms. It's easy and it makes life delightful. So, play with the dog. Entice the cat with a string. Go outside and talk to the birds then laugh at yourself for trying. It's fun to have fun.
Even tough times don't have to be so bad. I have a friend who is somewhat unlucky in love. But she never-the-less keeps on trying and she shares with me some of her more colorful exploits. With only the slightest embellishments, real life becomes hilarious. Years ago, I came across a pairing of experiences and sex was paired with humor. I was young at the time and I thought, 'How could this be, sex is so serious and so intimate,' but really, when you think of it, hardly anything is funnier. The subject of men and women is always ripe for a laugh.
So, jump on in, crack up and think of how silly we all are, let it be funny and fun. It will brighten your day and lighten the days of all who are around you. Let your smiles turn to giggles and may your guffaws and peals of laughter ring through the heavens and bounce off the walls of your home.

Juice Feasting Through the Holidays
In pre-agricultural times, when we humans lived in small migratory bands, there would often be lean times as we would move from one place of abundance to another. These times of scarcity would occur periodically and often would grow more profound while in the depths of winter. It is felt by many, myself included, that these times of intermittent fasting and occasional longer times of fasting would allow our bodies to do a deep self cleaning.
Many of our contemporary health practitioners advocate the benefits of intermittent fasting or times of significantly reduced caloric intake for our health. And the benefits of longer term fasting regimes, like water fasting have long been known within a variety of spiritual communities for the ability to bring exceptional clarity and insight to the practitioner.
I have done extensive fasting in the past, both for reasons of health and for clarity, and have found these experiences to be most profound, leaving me with a feeling of being 'preternaturally clear.' However, in recent years, I have discovered juice fasting, or 'juice feasting,' as it is fondly called by those who have enjoyed it.
A common adage in natural healing advises that we rebuild while we detoxify. And this is what occurs while we juice feast. Here, the reduced caloric intake lets our bodies remove toxins while the large servings of fresh, raw, organic, vegetable juices flood our bodies with the nutrition needed for healthy metabolism and the rebuilding of damaged or worn out body tissues.
Frank and I have long enjoyed adding a pint of fresh, raw, organic, vegetable juices into our daily meal plans. We prefer the juice without the pulp because we can consume so much more nutrition that way: lots and lots of enzymes, minerals, flavonoids, vitamins, and other beneficial phyto-chemicals. The difference is between consuming the equivalent of two stalks of celery and one cucumber versus a whole bunch of celery and several cucumbers along with any number of other leafy greens, all of which would be impossible to eat in a single sitting. Plus the juice is loaded with soluble fiber, which is what our body really needs and we get plenty of other fibrous materials with which to sweep our colons clean in our other foods. So, most mornings, it is our fresh, raw, organic, vegetable juice that we enjoy for breakfast because it gives us such a great nutritional and energy packed start to our day.
This year as the onslaught of holiday foods began to loom ahead, we decided, in early November, to take a different tact in regards to holiday feasting. Instead of risking ill health and distended organs, we made the choice to do what nature has long encouraged us humans to do and began a time of reduced caloric intake. Only this time, in addition, we decided to add the benefit of health building nutrition with juice feasting.
I must tell you, it has been great. We are feeling fantastic. All of the little aches and pains and other signs of inflammation have simply melted away. And, please pardon me for boasting, but I must share that my vision, which has always been good, has progressed to crystal clear. I've been jokingly saying that I can see a mosquito on the arm of a hiker on the mountain, which isn't quite true, but it gives you an idea of the increased level of health that our time of juice feasting is blessing us with.
Of course our loved ones are missing us at the holiday feasts, but our doors are always open to them for a nice cup of herbal tea. And we are delighting in using this time of celebration for detoxification and the rebuilding of our beautiful health.
